EVERYONE’S SKINCARE regime is unique. It can range from the meticulous to borderline non-existent to the meticulous. Regardless of where you lie, you could be making washing mistakes that can cause your skin to age.
Facial toners are a part of most beauty routines. But using too much toner dries out the skin that leads to more sebum production as your glands attempt to overcompensate. If your skin is feeling tight after applying toner, you may be using too much, especially true if you have sensitive or combination skin.
A lot of toners have alcohol-based ingredients, and should be avoided at all costs — as they dry the skin completely and remove natural oils needed to keep the skin moist and healthy.
Retinol is super hydrating and great for the skin, and you don’t always need prescription retinol as an over-the-counter can be better for you.
Too much Scrubbing
Instead of rubbing and scrubbing your motions with your cleanser should be as gentle as possible. Your hands should not be doing all the work! Scrubbing the skin can cause micro-tears in the skin as well as excessive elimination of essential oils leaving the skin dry.
Over exfoliating
While gently exfoliating can do wonders for the skin, but not too much. It can cause red patches, dehydration, dryness, and hyperpigmentation.
Using hot water
Hot water might feel good, but it can actually dehydrate it, stripping the skin of its natural oils, leaving it dry and flaky. Leading to skin irritation, acne flare, skin irritation, and breakouts. Instead, rinse your face with lukewarm or cool water to help constrict blood vessels. Also hot water enlarges your pores, and this can affect the oil production of the skin.
Over Washing
Over-washing your face can damage the skin’s natural protective system, that over time can cause early signs of aging such as dry patches and fine lines. Avoid washing your face more than twice a day.
Don’t forget to a moisturise
The best time to use moisturiser is after the shower to help prevent excessive dryness, and help the skin retain moisture. Use a combination moisturiser of vitamins and lipids that help strengthen its protective functions, heal irritations, and help to look smoother and healthier.
Washing with Soap
Soaps are not made for the face, it may be a minimalist approach, it is detrimental because hand soaps are dehydrating and lack many of the ingredients that enchance your skin’s complexion.
